Schneeberger
Sheri Schneeberger has been a lover of horses since
childhood.
She started training horses at the age of twelve using
techniques through the Professor Berry books, which is
all she had at the time.
She trained her horses to do tricks, for every
day acceptance and for riding.
Through the years she continued to train using various
methods. But
it wasn’t until she had a very difficult horse that made
her seek out some other method because all of the other
ones just didn’t work with this difficult horse.
This horse, named High Anxiety (Great name for
this horse), “JR” for short, was a Saddlebred-Arabian
cross that was a bucking, high strung, nervous,
extremely athletic, spooky run-off that tried every
trick known to horses, to NOT do what you wanted.
Sheri even sent the horse to a trainer who
couldn’t deal with him.
In the spring of 1999, she attended a demonstration at
an equine affair in
Columbus,
OH.
There she saw some very amazing things that a
gentleman, by the name of Pat Parelli, and his students
were demonstrating.
These horses were following their handlers around
with no halters or leads and they were jumping things
and crossing tarps and rolling balls and seemed very
happy to be with their human partners.
She decided that day that she could do this with
High Anxiety “JR” her Saddlebred cross.
When she got home she ordered the first program
and began to play instead of
work with her horse JR.
She discovered that horses played 7 games with
each other and were always trying each other to get to
the Alfa position.
So in order for her to get the attention of JR
she had to become Alfa.
It was history from that point on.
After about 6 months she was able to ride JR with
no reins and only sticks.
The following winter, JR was sold to a man in
Washington
State that just
loved him and got along great with him.
She couldn’t even think of selling him before.
Sheri has found that these techniques work on any type
of horse, in any discipline, with any problem.
Sheri is using these new techniques to help all kinds of
horses and their owners.
She has rehabilitated and started around 100
horses in the program.
